Joe Cole absolutely loved the goal Chelsea’s Mason Mount scored during the international break for England.
Mount, 23, came off the bench yesterday to score a stunning strike in England’s 3-3 draw at home to Germany.
The Blues attacking midfielder has been given just a brief cameo performance during two games of football for England during the break, which is perhaps a reflection of his slow start to the season at club level.
However, he proved his point on Monday with his dazzling cameo at Wembley Stadium against Germany.

Mason Mount goal
Chelsea’s star netted a brilliant goal against Germany to make it 2-2 at the time.
He fired in a curled strike from just inside the box after being teed up by fellow substitute Bukayo Saka.
“It’s outstanding (Mount’s goal)… What a finish. Mason’s not been at his best, he’ll be the first to admit that, but he’s taken that with such confidence and whipped it,” Cole told Channel 4 (10:00pm, 26 September).
Jermain Defoe added on Channel 4: “Credit to the subs [Mount and Bukayo Saka] who came on and made a difference… Especially Mason Mount, he gave the manager something to think about. A well-taken goal, he hits it so early, it’s a great strike, a great finish and that’s the sort of quality he brings.”

Mount’s performance, which was rightly applauded in the media’s player ratings, came at the perfect time.
Graham Potter will pray the 23-year-old now returns to Stamford Bridge in good spirits to try lift the Chelsea team.
As for his World Cup inspirations, last night did seem fairly significant.
Mount has been one of the ever-presents in the England XI during Gareth Southgate’s reign, but the fact he started neither of the fixtures during this international break suggests he’s fallen down the pecking order.
Hopefully, his contribution against Germany proved he can still have a big role to play going into the start of the World Cup in November.
With a World Cup on the horizon, Chelsea should be hopeful of seeing the best version of Mount as he builds up towards the start of an international tournament.
