Jamie Carragher ruthlessly claims star who recently left Chelsea has no standout attributes

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher is not a fan of one former Chelsea player and has delivered a damning assessment on him.

A whole host of names left Stamford Bridge during the summer, including Nicolas Jackson, Christopher Nkunku and Joao Felix.

Jackson joined Bayern Munich on loan on deadline day, so he could end up back at the club next summer. While Bayern are obligated to sign him permanently if he makes a certain number of starts, Frank Leboeuf expects Jackson to return to west London.

One man who has no chance of putting on a Chelsea shirt again, however, is Jadon Sancho.

Jamie Carragher ruthlessly claims star who recently left Chelsea has no standout attributes

Chelsea decided to send Sancho back to Manchester United at the end of his loan spell instead of signing him permanently, and it is a decision that Carragher would probably agree with.

The former Premier League defender has been very critical of the winger, claiming that he has no outstanding attributes.

Speaking on The Overlap Fan Debate, Carragher said: “Me and Gary [Neville] were on Sky on a show, and they asked us to pick an England squad or something. Listen, we hadn’t seen Sancho play too much. He was in [Borussia] Dortmund doing really well in the Champions League and we didn’t put him in our squad and I remember on social media, everyone was just in on Sancho.

“I’m not sure there’s much ability there, as in I think he’s okay. I don’t understand what his thing is. So, I’ve been critical of Marcus Rashford, but if I picture Marcus Rashford playing well, I can picture his pace. I can picture a shot. I can picture him taking a free-kick and hitting the ball really hard. I don’t know what Sancho’s thing is.”

Chelsea have since taken a punt on another United wide man, signing Alejandro Garnacho at the end of the summer transfer window.

Florent Malouda is a fan of Garnacho, believing that the Argentina international could even follow Cole Palmer’s trajectory.

How much is Jadon Sancho earning at Aston Villa?

It is widely believed that Chelsea opted against signing Sancho permanently after the 25-year-old refused to take a pay cut.

By joining Aston Villa on loan, he has been able to remain on his rumoured £300,000-a-week contract.

According to Sky Sports, Villa are paying 80% of his wages, with United making up the other 20%. It is a lot of money and, in the end, the England international did not do enough to warrant those wages at Chelsea.

Even if he had, it would have shattered the club’s wage structure, so a permanent deal was always going to be difficult the moment Chelsea found out about his demands for a transfer.
