Jamie Carragher suggests he feels sorry for Chelsea’s Mykhailo Mudryk because it’s so hard trying to get an extended run in the starting line-up.

Mykhailo Mudryk, who’s still only 22, is yet to really fully announce himself in Chelsea colours.

It’s been a fairly hushed start to the attacker’s Blues career after joining back in January.

For certain, the fact he can’t seem to nail down a regular spot in the XI is damaging any chance of building any momentum. It’s worth pointing out he’s started the previous two Premier League games under Mauricio Pochettino, though.

Pundit Jamie Carragher has taken a dig at Chelsea’s squad size, suggesting so many players will find it difficult to shine at Stamford Bridge. In fact, he does have sympathy for Mudryk’s individual situation.

“When you bring a player in, for instance, Mudryk, we know he hasn’t done well. He cost £80million-odd, but they’re still buying wingers left, right, and centre. I’m thinking you’ve got to give that lad a chance. You’ve got to say there’s a path to go and play,” Carragher told The Overlap.

“Every player must feel like there’s not really an opportunity there for them because there’s someone going to take their place two games later.”

Speaking on the Seaman Says podcast, David Seaman came out with support for Mudryk by suggesting there’s a lot more to come from the Chelsea talent.

There’s no doubt the electric winger is going to feel so much better once he gets that first goal for Chelsea.

It’s hard to pinpoint why all of the forwards in the Blues squad can’t seem to find any consistency in front of goal, but we would like to see Mudryk get a handful of consecutive starts to help his progressison.
