Jamie Redknapp feels that Chelsea frontman Romelu Lukaku is looking fitter than ever before.

Lukaku, 28, is back in the Premier League this season and made a heartfelt return to Stamford Bridge in the summer for a second spell with the Blues.

The Belgian centre-forward has been a goal machine throughout his entire career, including during the last two years in Italy with Inter Milan.

He’s scored goals at the likes of Manchester United and Everton in England, but there has often been a perception of him not being the fittest.

However, Sky Sports pundit Redknapp believes that he’s back now looking extremely sharp.

The left-footed striker scored on his second Chelsea debut in last weekend’s win against Arsenal. It was an all-round impressive display that showcased his strength, speed and stamina.

“I believe he’s come back looking as fit as I’ve ever seen him. He was out of shape at Manchester United. Now, he looks like an incredible athlete,” Redknapp said.

”If they can keep him at that level, Tuchel knows he’s got a gem there. The midfield players around him will enjoy playing with him so much.”

Romelu Lukaku has a bit of everything now

It’s obvious that Lukaku’s game has improved tenfold during the last few years.

The Belgian has always been a classy finisher around the penalty box, so he’s going to benefit massively playing around some of Chelsea’s creative attackers. It’s clear he can be the solution to the team failing to convert their chances.

However, his speed and work rate is often an area of his game that’s underrated.

He bulldozed his way through the Arsenal team for 90 minutes in the last game, so it’s going to be intriguing to see how he gets on against Liverpool’s centre-halves Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip this Saturday.

Lukaku is rightfully going to fancy his chances against anyone.
