Joao Felix is confident that Blues teammate Kai Havertz will end his seven-week goal drought in the second-leg match against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday.
Havertz is leading Chelsea’s goalscoring charts in the Premier League and in all competitions this season.
This is somewhat expected, however, since he has played the second-most minutes for the Blues this season behind Thiago Silva and mostly plays as a number nine.
A total of six goals (five in the Premier League) is a disappointing output, too, compared to other first-choice strikers.
The Germany international has failed to register a goal or an assist in his last seven appearances, in six of which he was a starter.
It is not for lack of trying, however, according to Felix, who believes Havertz’s goalless streak ends on Tuesday.
“He’s an amazing player — everyone knows who he is and what he has done for the club,” the Portugal international said in Monday’s press conference when speaking about Havertz’s goalscoring form.
“We’re the same age, so I’ve already known him [since] a long time ago.
“Our relationship on and off the pitch is very good.
“This is football. Sometimes you’re on a streak, scoring every game, sometimes you don’t score.
“You just have to keep working.
“He never stops working and always tries to get better.
“Tomorrow, he will score.”
Obviously, Havertz is not the only Chelsea attacker who is struggling with his form.
Bear in mind that Wesley Fofana’s goal at the weekend was the team’s first goal in their last four games.
