Joao Pedro will love what future Chelsea teammate Kendry Paez did after scoring for Strasbourg

Joao Pedro and Kendry Paez could be Chelsea teammates next season.

Paez is currently at Strasbourg on loan and is making an impact there. The attacking midfielder recently scored his first goal for the club, netting in their 3-2 win against Paris FC on Sunday.

Pedro has also managed to find the back of the net for Chelsea this term, grabbing goals in London derbies against Fulham and West Ham United.

While he remains a fan of the player, Gary Neville recently critiqued Pedro, claiming that the 23-year-old is not on the same level as some of his Premier League rivals.

Kendry Paez copies Joao Pedro’s celebration

Pedro’s goals against Fulham and West Ham have seen the Brazilian pull out his celebration, where he covers his face while giving a thumbs down.

After his goal in Strasbourg’s victory over Paris FC, it was something that Paez decided to copy.

In Paez’s ideal world, he would be at Stamford Bridge playing alongside Pedro right now. In June, it was reported that Paez wanted to stay at Chelsea this season.

The decision to send him out on loan will have its benefits, though, with the Ecuadorian getting regular game time under Liam Rosenior.

That being said, with Cole Palmer struggling for fitness at the moment, you cannot help but feel that Paez may have been able to offer Enzo Maresca something in the current campaign.

Keeping Paez at the club instead of signing Facundo Buonanotte on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion may have made more sense.

Kendry Paez can make an impact even when not at his best

Paez has certainly put in much better performances for the Ecuador national team and former club Independiente del Valle.

Against Paris FC, he did not create too many opportunities and was eventually subbed off just after the hour mark.

However, the fact that Paez was still able to score shows that the Ecuador international does not have to be at his best to make a difference. It is a great trait to have and hopefully something Chelsea are able to utilise in the near future.
