Jody Morris reacts to Chelsea’s win over Borussia Dortmund

Blues icon Jody Morris has had his say on Chelsea’s 2-0 second-leg win over Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday night.

After the 1-0 defeat in the first leg at Signal Iduna Park, Chelsea had to overcome their poor goalscoring form to have any chance of winning the tie. They did exactly that.

Graham Potter’s men still missed two out of the three big chances they created in the game, which suggests that the problem remains, but Raheem Sterling’s strike and Kai Havertz’s penalty goal proved enough.

It was a nervy moment for Havertz, who had recently been appointed the team’s designated penalty taker, after missing his first penalty. Luckily, he could retake the penalty after player encroachment, and he did not miss the second one.

Morris highlighted the positive mood inside Stamford Bridge after this crucial win.

“Good to see the Bridge buzzing again,” the former Chelsea coach wrote on Twitter after the game.

“Haven’t seen much of them lately other than highlights, but that’s clearly a great result.

“Up the Chels.”

Chelsea have now had two consecutive wins after previously a six-game winless run.

There are still a lot of things to improve, especially on the attacking end, but the overall team performance was encouraging.
