Former Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is currently enjoying a very successful return to management as the head coach of Coventry City.
The Chelsea legend took over the Championship side just above the relegation zone, with them now just a point away from the play-offs following an excellent run.
Lampard has made history in his new job, with Coventry picking up their first win in 75 years at Swansea City under his guidance.
It was important Lampard excelled in his current job after being criticised during his time at Everton, as well as his brief return to Stamford Bridge.
A number of other former Blues have made their ventures into management too. Cesc Fabregas is currently having a very successful spell as manager of Como, recently defeating Antonio Conte’s Napoli.
Fellow club legend Ashley Cole has completed his coaching badges, and holds a high-profile role in the England setup.
Former teammate Joe Cole believes it is not long before he is at the helm of a top club, and has tipped him to be in the running to take the job as Rangers manager.
He said on ‘The Dressing Room Podcast’: “I’m gonna throw a name in there, and he’s our guy Ashley Cole. I know he’s working with England U21s. Rangers had such a good spell with Steven Gerrard, another England legend, I can see Coley going for that job.”
The likes of John Terry praised Cole when he made the switch to Goodison Park to continue his coaching venture back in 2022.
Ashley Cole’s coaching career so far
After a stint playing at Derby under Lampard at the end of his career, Cole became a coach there before starting work with the Chelsea academy.
He also followed his former teammate to Everton, as well as working as part of Wayne Rooney’s team at Birmingham City.
Cole has been wanted by Championship clubs before, and it feels like only a matter of time before he is the next former Chelsea star to venture into management.
