Chelsea were quick to poke fun at Premier League rivals Arsenal following their recent defeat in the Champions League final.

Blues players and supporters were forced to watch from home after their side were eliminated from the competition in the Round of 16 stage against eventual winners PSG.

They will be met by the same fate next season following a 10th placed finish in the 2025/26 season, despite securing the services of Xabi Alonso as new manager.

Chelsea supporters got their end of season joy in the form of a hate watch, and the club’s social media accounts didn’t take long to poke fun at their rivals either.

Chelsea’s Instagram page posted a picture straight after Gabriel’s missed penalty reminding supporters that they were the only team from London to win the competition.

John Obi Mikel has admitted that he was a huge fan of the club’s decision to poke fun at Arsenal, giving out his own bit of banter when talking to ‘HitRecordSam’.

He said: “Amazing post. This trophy here, oh wow. Amazing trophy. Arsenal cannot touch this trophy. They cannot touch it. We are the team.

“Never say sorry to Arsenal. We are the only team in London to win the Champions League, but it’s amazing to see Arsenal again do what they do best. They always find a way to make sure they bottle it, and they did it.”

Who would you sign to replace Marc Cucurella? 🫵

Andrea Cambiaso is the latest player to be linked.

Arsenal will be back in the competition next season, while Chelsea did not even make the Conference League after their final day defeat to Sunderland.

However, some have argued that not having any distractions from domestic duties will be the best port of call for Alonso in his first season at Stamford Bridge.

The hope will be that they do not have to part ways with too many big-name stars after another season outside of Europe’s elite.

Enzo Fernandez is pushing to leave, while Marc Cucurella is also the target of Spain’s top sides.
