John Obi Mikel believes that Chelsea’s Estevao Willian is set for big things at Stamford Bridge after what he’s heard about him.
A lot of the attention throughout the summer months has gone on some of Chelsea’s high-profile signings, with the likes of Liam Delap and Alejandro Garnacho coming through the door.
While John Terry has called for Chelsea to make marquee signings in the future for top players, the Blues have made some smart acquisitions, and the rewards are being seen on the pitch.
However, one of Chelsea’s summer signings who went under the radar might end up being the star of this season.

John Obi Mikel has backed Estevao Willian to achieve big things at Chelsea
Estevao Willian joined Chelsea from Palmeiras on an initial £29 million deal that could rise to £51million with performance-related add-ons, and he’s instantly caught the attention of everyone at Stamford Bridge.
While not much was said about the 18-year-old outside of the Chelsea bubble this summer, he’s quickly showcased what he’s capable of, and during the latest Obi One Podcast, Mikel spoke about his future.
He said: “There’s no question about that, he’s a proper, proper player. He’s a really good player, a young player. I think he’s got good people around him, from what I’ve heard about the kid.
“He’s very committed to what he does, he loves playing football, he enjoys what he does, he loves being on the pitch.

“When you have a young player who wants to do all that, it’s amazing because nowadays with social media and everything going on, it’s very easy for these players to go the wrong way.
“But what I’ve heard from this kid, he has good people around him, and I hope that he can continue that way because he’s got so much potential.
“We haven’t seen everything that he can do. I think once he feels comfortable at this football club and he can perform to his full potential, he’s going to be an absolute joy to watch.”
Estevao Willian continued his momentum for Brazil
Estevao is dazzling not just in the Premier League, either. During the recent international break, he showed Brazil boss Carlo Ancelotti exactly what he’s capable of.
The Brazilian media were impressed with Estevao, especially since he scored his first goal for Brazil, continuing his impressive start to the season.
Unfortunately for Chelsea, Estevao hasn’t trained this week due to the sheer distance and travel compared to other players who were on international duty.
Maresca confirmed during his pre-match conference that neither Estevao, Joao Pedro, nor Andrey Santos have been back in yet at Cobham, which will put them all as doubts for Saturday’s game against Brentford.
