John Terry has criticised Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen for lack of effort in the build-up to Aston Villa’s equaliser in the 1-1 draw on Monday.
Whether he was fouled by Jack Grealish or it was just an unfortunate knock, the 24-year-old must be disappointed with the outcome.
Outnumbered Chelsea in the box with Christensen down injured, Villa didn’t waste the opportunity.
Unmarked Anwar El-Ghazi levelled the score just five minutes into the second half after Olivier Giroud previously took the lead for Chelsea in the first half.
Chelsea legend Terry who is with the visitors’ camp has had his say about Christensen’s incident.
“He [Christensen] should’ve got up,” the Aston Villa assistant manager wrote in the comment section of his Instagram post.
Terry wasn’t the only one unimpressed with Christensen as Ian Wright also said the defender should have continued playing.
“I’m very disappointed there with Christensen because we see Jack Grealish get up here, and it’s not a knock that’s going to make him have to leave the game,” he told Premier League Productions (via Mirror).
“I don’t want to see my centre-half lying on the floor like that when you know nothing is wrong with you.
“You can see all the problems it’s caused.
“They deservedly score the goal but my problem with this is he [Christensen] gets up and he [played] on, so I believe if Grealish [could] get up and play on, he should [have played] on as well.”
