Blues legend John Terry has expressed his admiration for Chelsea defensive pair Antonio Rudiger and Thiago Silva during an Instagram Q&A.
Chelsea may be trailing Premier League leaders Manchester City by 15 points, but their defensive line is far from being the problem.
To put it into perspective, they have the second-best defence in the league, having only conceded one more goal (18) than Pep Guardiola’s men (17) this term.
The two outstanding players are obviously Silva and Rudiger. They have arguably been Chelsea’s most consistent performers this season.
Well, even a legendary centre-back like Terry has been impressed by these two.

“Absolutely love him,” the former England international said about Silva on Instagram.
“To be playing so well at his age in the best league is unbelievable.
“Just wish I could have played alongside him.
“He does everything so well without taking any risk and keeping things simple.”
He also sent a message to Rudiger.
“@toniruediger, I love you brother,” Terry wrote.
“What a player. The passion he shows for our clubs is what I love to see.
“Great defender and an absolute animal.
“Lucky to have you at our club.”

Different circumstances over their future at Chelsea
Silva’s strong performances led to Chelsea’s offering him an early contract extension earlier this year.
Things are a bit more complicated with Rudiger’s situation, unfortunately.
The Germany international is in the final months of his contract with Chelsea, and so far, there is yet to be an agreement over an extension between the two parties.
As Terry pointed out, Rudiger has always shown his passion, despite the contract situation.
A recent report suggested that the club is prepared to make Rudiger the highest-paid defender at the club with their latest offer. Hopefully, this will help convince the defender to extend his stay at the club.
