John Terry has given a brilliant insight into his time playing alongside Eden Hazard at Chelsea.

There’s no doubt that John Terry and Eden Hazard both sit at the top of the pile when discussing the club’s greatest ever players.

Both are now retired, and it’s great to hear in-depth comments about the pair at Stamford Bridge.

Terry has spoken very openly about his career on episode one of the The Obi One Podcast, which is new and created by former Blues star John Obi Mikel.

John Terry shares the truth

Terry has waxed lyrical about Hazard when commenting on his natural ability.

However, he does admit that the Belgian attacker could be quite “frustrating” with the way he could turn it on and off. In particular, the 32-year-old winger wasn’t the best trainer.

When asked if Hazard is one of the best players he’s ever played with, Terry replied on the podcast: “100 per cent. I think the most gifted and talented player is [Gianfranco] Zola and him for sure. I still say the best player in the history of Chelsea is Lamps (Frank Lampard) for what he achieved and longevity of it.

“I think in pure talent, Hazard has to be the main guy. When you play in a team with him, and you look around going who’s going to produce a little something here, there’s not many players throughout my career at Chelsea that had that. The Ronaldo’s and the Messi’s can do it, Hazard could go and do it. If he wanted to go and score, he could go and score.

“I think when you play with him, it probably becomes a little bit frustrating because you’re going, ‘you can do that for 60 minutes’, but he’ll give you glimpses of that throughout the game.

“In training, like Mikel said, he’s non-existent. He didn’t want to know… He was an absolute superstar. A top, top player.”

Eden Hazard a street footballer

Hazard belongs in a very special category of footballers, whose best work comes off the cuff when he’s got freedom on the ball to express himself.

You’ve got to have a very special talent to train poorly and get away with it, especially around some huge Chelsea personalities.

Many fans are gutted he’s retired at the age of 32, but they can look back on seven glittering years at Stamford Bridge.

As per OptaJoe, Hazard is one of only four players in Premier League history to score 15+ goals and make 15+ assists in a single season.
