Carney Chukwuemeka could miss out on making his first start for Chelsea after training alone at Cobham earlier today.
Nizaar Kinsella responded to the news about Chukwuemeka’s solo training on Twitter, with the 5th Stand App also confirming the teenager’s one-to-one session.
Before this latest update, the 19-year-old looked set for a starting role against Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League tomorrow evening.
With Graham Potter’s side safely through to the round of 16, players short of game time will likely be used at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday evening.
Chukwuemeka set to miss Champions League tie
One of those many fans would’ve wanted to see get a run out is Chukwuemeka, who has hardly featured since joining the Blues from Aston Villa over the summer.
He has so far came off the bench three times in the Premier League, accompanied with two appearances for the under-21s.
Tomorrow’s game against Dinamo would’ve been the perfect opportunity for Potter to unleash the exciting midfielder from the first whistle.
However, it seems this will not be the case, with Chukwuemeka not part of the senior squad’s pre-match training.
This is a great shame for the player, but also a worry for Potter, with his squad already hit with injuries.
Potter’s injury problems
Reece James and Wesley Fofana are out for a sustained period of time, whilst Kalidou Koulibaly is only just back from his own absence.
The 5th Stand also confirmed that both Mateo Kovacic and Kepa Arrizabalaga were absentees from training.
With a huge London derby against Arsenal on the horizon, Potter must be looking worryingly in the direction of his medical staff.
Pick up any more problems at home to Dinamo, and the Gunners might be in for a blast on Sunday.
