Brighton’s Roberto De Zerbi won’t be the next Chelsea manager.

That’s according to journalist Miguel Delaney, who reports that Roberto De Zerbi is not on Chelsea’s shortlist of managerial candidates.

He claims that the 43-year-old Premier League boss won’t be making the move to Stamford Bridge.

Instead, Chelsea’s hierarchy are now starting talks with up to seven managers in their quest to appoint Graham Potter’s successor.

Delaney wrote on Twitter: “Chelsea starting talks on managers and seeking to speak to a group of up to seven managers – including [Mauricio] Pochettino, Luis Enrique and [Julian] Nagelsmann. De Zerbi not among them.”

De Zerbi, who’s new to the Premier League season, is certainly enjoying life at Brighton.

He replaced Graham Potter back in September at the Amex Stadium, who’s learned the hard way that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side.

Potter struggled with the step up and the pressure in the Chelsea job, so perhaps that serves as a warning to others.

In fairness, De Zerbi has elevated Brighton even higher with their performances and results, which is why we can picture him getting a chance at a high-profile club in the future

It feels like he’s in the right place at the right time now, though.

Delaney lists some very interesting names above as potential next Chelsea managers.

The likes of Pochettino, Enrique and Nagelsmann all do have one thing in common. That is they’ve all worked at elite clubs and had to deal with serious pressure.

When you consider the Potter experiment didn’t work, returning to a manager with a big name and reputation could be the best way to settle the fans at Stamford Bridge.

Pochettino and Nagelsmann recently left Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich, respectively, which are the two domestic giants in their own countries. As for Enrique, he’s been in charge of the Spanish national side and Barcelona in his career.
