A civil war amongst the ownership of the club is certainly something Chelsea do not need to add to their list of problems at this stage of the season and the club’s project.

A reported rift has formed between Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali, the duo who are the faces of the ownership group in charge at Stamford Bridge.

Boehly has a vision that expands 30 years for where he wants the club to be, and his opinion on matters seems to be differing to his counterpart.

Chelsea fans seem to be backing the American in this scenario, with the next step taken by both parties unclear at this stage.

One of the reported options is Boehly’s side assuming full control of the club, although this could have a negative knock-on effect for the Blues.

Todd Boehly taking over could mean another Chelsea overhaul

Journalist Ben Jacobs has claimed that another overhaul could be in store for them if the American assumed full control of the club.

He said to ‘The Byline’: “If Boehly did assume control, there could be another massive overhaul which could cause more instability.”

Chelsea have gone through a number of transfer windows now where mass change has met the first team, with only a handful of players remaining from the squad who were there when the new ownership team came in.

Mass change at Chelsea again this summer

This summer saw them bring in the likes of Pedro Neto, Joao Felix and Jadon Sancho as attacking options, with them keen throughout the majority of the window to move on some of the players at the club.

This included Raheem Sterling, who is waiting to make his debut for Arsenal after his loan there.

Something that has been key in the last few years has been signing the best young talent before other clubs, seeing them get their hands on Kendry Paez and Estevao Willian ahead of next summer. It remains to be seen if that plan is affected by the ownership rift.
