Some Chelsea players inside the dressing room are growing concerned about the club’s transfer activity this summer.

That is according to well-respected journalist Simon Phillips.

Phillips has reported on his Substack that ‘senior’ Chelsea players at Stamford Bridge are worried about the lack of new signings during this transfer window.

He adds that Blues head coach Mauricio Pochettino is ‘a little frustrated’ when it comes to transfer incomings, too.

There’s no confirmation of who the frustrated players are within the Chelsea camp, but there’s actually only a handful senior figures in a very young squad.

We’re looking at the likes of Thiago Silva, Raheem Sterling, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Ben Chilwell and Reece James as the senior faces in the Chelsea group.

It’s been really impressive to see the club sell and get rid of so many players this summer, which was definitely needed to trim a massively oversized squad.

However, it now feels like Pochettino needs one or two more big hitters to complete a squad for the new season.

There’s still a month to go in this transfer window to add more quality to Chelsea’s first-team ranks, but we begin the Premier League season in a couple of weeks against Liverpool.

From the outside looking in, everything seems a lot more rosy in pre-season compared to a really tough time last year. Therefore, we don’t want to cause unrest in the group by falling short in the transfer market.

There’s no doubt Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku have bolstered the forward options following their summer arrivals. Meanwhile, Levi Colwill feels like a new signing following his return from a loan spell at Brighton.

It’s no secret that the Blues are crying out for midfield reinforcements, though.

Chelsea supporters are stressed about the current state of the midfield, which has a lot of potential with talented youngsters but not much experience. You can’t blame the senior players if they think the same thing!

Journalist Ben Jacobs recently reported on Twitter that Chelsea are prepared to outbid Liverpool in the race to sign Southampton’s defensive midfielder Romeo Lavia. Hopefully, he Blues are about to spring into action.
