Cole Palmer having a great season for Chelsea is not new news anymore.

Last night he showed everyone again what he can do with another goal and assist for the Blues in their 3-2 win over Newcastle.

Palmer may not have actually had too much intention behind his assist, with his shot being brilliantly flicked goalwards by Nicolas Jackson.

There was every intention behind his goal though. He even took the time after the game to break down exactly what he had seen that allowed him to powerfully strike home from distance.

The two contributions last night helped him further retain his place at the top of both charts for the Blues in the league this season.

Reaching a tally of 19 combined in his first real season as a regular of first team football is something that is extremely impressive, and puts him in quite elite company.

Palmer level for goals and assists with Bellingham

He now sits at the top of the list for U21 players this season in terms of combined goals and assists, only matched along the way by Jude Bellingham.

The Real Madrid man has been a revelation himself this season, since choosing the La Liga side over a number of elite interested parties, including Chelsea.

He has found himself playing further forward than ever before too, likely because of the vast amount of goals he has scored in all competitions.

Bellingham is a player who will certainly be one of the first names on the teamsheet for Gareth Southgate when the Euros roll around in Germany at the end of this season.

However, it was Stamford Bridge where the England boss was seen last night, and he will have been liking what he saw from the 21-year-old who he has only called up once before.

He will likely have not been too impressed by Raheem Sterling on the other hand, with him facing a fight to return to the national team.
