Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham has just won the Golden Boy award and he thinks one reported Chelsea target could be the next player to claim it.

Jude Bellingham was asked who does he think will win the Golden Boy award in 2024 in an interview with Tuttosport, and the England international named his former Borussia Dortmund team-mate Jamie Bynoe-Gittens as one potential contender.

Back in October, Bild reported that Chelsea were one of several Premier League clubs who were interested in the 19-year-old winger.

Bynoe-Gittens played 15 games in the Bundesliga for Dortmund last season, scoring three goals. This term, he has made five appearances so far and netted on one occasion.

Bellingham thinks Bynoe-Gittens, Arda Guler and his brother Jobe will compete for the Golden Boy award next year.

“First of all, Arda Guler, who has now recovered from the injuries that prevented him from making his debut for Real,” he told Tuttosport. “He is a phenomenon. We see him in training and we are enchanted by him.

“Then my former teammate Jamie Bynoe-Gittens from Borussia Dortmund. And finally my brother Jobe, a thoroughbred striker like our father.”

Are any of Chelsea’s current players good enough to win the Golden Boy award?

Levi Colwill was on the shortlist for this year’s edition and has impressed at Stamford Bridge this season.

The defender recently scored his first goal for Chelsea and has been playing at both left-back and centre-back for the Blues, showing his versatility.

However, Colwill turns 21 in February so will not be eligible for the award. But if he were a year younger and managed to maintain his form for the rest of this campaign, then you would have backed him to become a contender.

The same also applies to Cole Palmer, who is one year older than his Chelsea team-mate. He would have been in with a shout as well with the way he has been playing.

That only really leaves Romeo Lavia then. The 19-year-old showed a lot of promise at Southampton last season, hence why Chelsea decided to go out and spend so much money on him. If he can replicate his form at St Mary’s at Stamford Bridge, perhaps he could go on to be the next Golden Boy winner.
