Jody Morris mourned Jamal Musiala’s exit from the World Cup after suffering in a Germany shirt last night.

Morris announced his anguish on Twitter following the state of events that cruelly ended Musiala’s tournament.

Bayern Munich’s talented and tenacious teenager started the final group fixture in Qatar, aware his nation’s international dreams were hanging in the balance.

After losing to Japan and drawing with Spain, the 19-year-old and his compatriots knew they had to beat Costa Rica and pray for a helping hand in the other tie.

If Spain managed to beat Japan, and Germany secured all three points, the two former World Cup winners would progress.

Yet, Luis Enrique’s side did not keep up their end of the deal.

Japan managed to come from behind to win the match 2-1, thanks to a controversial second that had seemingly gone out of play before nestling in the net.

Across the country, Germany claimed a 4-2 victory over Costa Rica, but it was not enough to squeeze them over the line.

As a result of a dramatic evening, Japan and Spain both progressed to the knockout phase.

Musiala made to suffer at the World Cup

“Fair play to Japan..I’m just disappointed I’m not gonna see any more of Jamal Musiala this World Cup,” wrote Morris.

Chelsea fans, pundits and rivals alike surely share Morris’ frustration.

Musiala lit up the World Cup stage with his energy, quality in possession and general ease in which he glided past opponents.

He very much affirmed his status as one of the game’s great young performers, and gave Todd Boehly even more reason to rue his predecessor.

Roman Abramovich was in charge when Musiala was allowed to leave Cobham and join Bayern Munich in 2019.

Had the forward stuck around to see the sights at Stamford Bridge, who knows where his career could’ve catapulted to.

Thanks to moving to the Bundesliga behemoths, he is now a genuine world-class gift.
