Kai Havertz and Thiago Silva have both taken to Instagram to respond to the news of Mateo Kovacic’s departure from the club.

The duo led the responses on the Croatian’s goodbye post, leaving the club he has played for now since 2018.

With just a year left on his current deal, it was decided amongst both parties that a move was the best possible option for Kovacic.

When Manchester City are interested in your services off the back of winning the treble, it makes it very difficult to say no, especially when you’ve just finished 12th in the league.

It seems as if Pep Guardiola has looked to the central midfielder to replace Ilkay Gundogan, who rode off into the sunset straight after victory in the Champions League final.

The player leaving will no doubt be a big blow to the morale at Stamford Bridge, with Kovacic being a popular player amongst his teammates.

Havertz and Silva react to Kovacic

This has been proven by the floods of responses to him saying goodbye to the Blues. Silva commented a set of crying emojis, whilst Havertz simply described him as a maestro.

It might not be long until the German is making his own farewell post. He is expected to be on the move in the coming days to Arsenal.

The 24-year-old has already written himself into Chelsea folklore following his Champions League final winning goal back in 2021.

However, looking past that historical moment is not pretty viewing, and a host of inconsistent displays have plagued his campaigns since his move to England.

There is a lot more optimism about Chelsea fans for the fact they have been able to sell the forward than Kovacic, who will go down as somewhat of a cult hero at Stamford Bridge.
