Kai Havertz says he really ‘enjoys’ playing with ‘great’ Chelsea teammate

Chelsea forward Kai Havertz was full of praise for Blues teammate Enzo Fernandez whom he “enjoys playing with”.

Following a five-game winless run in February, the Blues have now won three consecutive games in March, and club-record signing Fernandez certainly played a significant part.

Aside from his ability to recover the ball, the 22-year-old midfielder’s exceptional playmaking has proved crucial for Chelsea.

Per FBref, Fernandez is averaging more progressive passes (8.8) per 90 minutes than any other player at Chelsea this season.

The formation change, from a back-four to a back-three, likely helped him, too, since he has more freedom to roam in the latter.

Havertz, who recently benefitted from Fernandez’s vision, was clearly impressed by the midfielder.

“Yes I really enjoy playing with Enzo,” the Germany international told Chelsea’s official website.

“He’s a great player and he has a lot of qualities.

“He’s shown this in the last few games and his ball for my goal was fantastic.

“Scoring in the past few games is a great feeling but the most important thing is helping the team get the victory and hopefully we can push forward now.”

Fernandez has already registered two assists so far, but it is already the joint-most at Chelsea.

This highlights both the midfielder’s instant impact — considering he has already been at the club for just over a month — and Chelsea’s worrying goalscoring record overall this season.
