Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall believes he could have come good at Chelsea

Speaking to Sky Sports, Dewsbury-Hall actually suggested he had plenty more to offer at Chelsea, but wasn’t given the opportunity.

He was asked, “And then off to Chelsea with Enzo Maresca. How do you look back at that decision now?”

“No, I mean I’ve got no regrets with that. It was an amazing year. I mean, won two trophies that I’ll have on my resume for the rest of my career.

“I was heavily involved in them trophies. I obviously had a lot of competition, there’s a lot of players that we had like Enzo Fernandez 100 million pound players in that position.

“So it’s not easy to break in. But if you ere to ask me, I know for a fact I could have gone in there and played regularly and made a real impact because I mean like you said the games I played I managed to play well and score important goals.”

Where would Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall have fitted in at Chelsea?

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s profile as a high-intensity, box-to-box midfielder suggests he would have been an ideal fit for the system Liam Rosenior has implemented at Chelsea.

Unlike Enzo Maresca, Rosenior’s current setup prioritises aggressive pressing and late third-man runs into the box, the exact traits that have seen Dewsbury-Hall net six goals for Everton this season.

With Chelsea currently navigating a mid-March injury crisis that has sidelined players, his durability and ability to operate in the central half-spaces would have provided Rosenior with a ready-made alternative to Enzo Fernandez.

Dewsbury-Hall could have functioned as the connective tissue Chelsea currently lacks, offering the transitional pace and goal threat that originally made him a standout under Rosenior’s predecessors.
