Thiago Silva was not best pleased with Serbia’s coach following Brazil’s World Cup win last night.
As quoted by Mercado Do Futebol after Tite’s team kickstarted their tournament with a 2-0 victory, Chelsea’s Silva called out Dragan Stoikovic.
In the build-up to the contest in Qatar on Thursday, Stoikovic rather jovially joked about Brazil’s breadth of attacking talent.
“What did you say? Four attackers will be playing against Serbia? Then we are ruined,” he said in his pre-match press conference.
“Will anyone be playing in defence?”
Tite probably could’ve selected a side full of forward players, and did rather go gung-ho with his selection against Serbia.

Stoikovic’s comments about the Seleção Canarinha’ potentially flimsy backline clearly backfired, as they kept Serbia at bay relatively easily.
”Their coach said: “they are going to play with four forwards, is there anyone back there?”, that is disrespectful. If you had studied our team, you would see that we conceded few goals,” slammed Silva once the match had concluded.
Chelsea’s defender got the last laugh in the aftermath of a proud moment for him personally.
The 38-year-old lead out his compatriots as their captain yesterday and simultaneously became the oldest player to represent Brazil at a World Cup.
This title might be reclaimed by 39-year-old Dani Alves if he appears in the competition.
