Matt Lawton provided a potentially pivotal piece of information in regards to the sale of Chelsea to Hansjorg Wyss.
Speaking on talkSPORT, the Chief Sports correspondent for the Times revealed there remains uncertainty about the authenticity about Wyss’ possible bid to buy the Blues.
End of the Abramovich era
Stamford Bridge and all its riches was officially put on the market by the now former owner Roman Abramovich last night.
Abramovich had been stepping away from the project he bought in 2003 since Saturday, where he initially tried to offload the club to a board of trustees.

This particularly party rejected his proposal with some force, which caused him to turn to more long-term solutions.
He had reportedly already started offering Chelsea to interested suitors before making the announcement on Wednesday evening.
Wyss this a good idea?
One of those approached was Swiss billionaire Wyss, who declared in an interview published on Tuesday that he had spoken with Abramovich.
“I and three other people received an offer on Tuesday to buy Chelsea from Abramovich,” he said.
Since then, rumours about his move to seize the Champions League holders have ramped up.
According to the Telegraph, Wyss and fellow wealthy businessman Todd Boehly are considering teaming up to takeover the Premier League giant.
However, Lawton has stepped in to suggest the Swiss half of this deal may not be completely as it seems.

“We did speak to someone quite close to the transaction last night and they think that, yes he might be interested, but to go public was a tactic to try and drive the price down and I don’t think he’s going to be the bidder that they pursue,” he said about Wyss.
Attempting to lower the cost probably isn’t a bad idea, considering the figure Abramovich is apparently asking for.
It is believed that he values Chelsea at £4 billion (Telegraph), although offers are likely to start at around the £2 billion mark.
Certainly a large price to pay, but one that could return huge rewards, as Abramovich found out during his tenure.
