Frank Leboeuf labelled Antonio Rudiger as the best Chelsea player of the Thomas Tuchel reign.
Speaking on ESPN, Leboeuf was discussing the likely departure of Rudiger from Stamford Bridge, which would end his terrific tenure under Tuchel.
The two Germans have arguably been the two most significant parts of the Blues furniture in the past 12 months.

Whilst the man in the dugout orchestrates the club’s success, the defender has stood in line and followed the captain’s orders to a tee.
Few can claim to have experienced a more prosperous 2021 than the crazy centre-back.
From falling out of favour with Frank Lampard to becoming a Champions League winner in almost the blink of an eye, Rudiger’s glow up has been spectacular.
Cash concerns
Unfortunately, the one time he’s strayed from the path might see the 28-year-old disappear from the Fulham Road completely.
It is increasingly likely Rudiger will leave Stamford Bridge next year, as the player’s wage demands continue to be turned down.
He wants an increased salary to reflect his rise since Tuchel’s take over, yet the hierarchy are just not willing to go above their set offer.
The Blues were close to losing the German international whilst Lampard was still in charge, but that was because of a lack of game time.

Now, the scenario is completely different.
“He was nowhere near it and that would’ve been a good opportunity to get rid of a player who couldn’t impose himself,” said Leboeuf on Rudiger’s previous exit efforts.
“But since Tuchel took charge he is the man. He is better than anybody else. He is the symbol of the club. He does the job.
“So, we are not in the dressing room, we don’t know how it works and if Tuchel and the rest of the staff thinks that the future could be for Rudiger or if he is at the sunset of his career.
“So, maybe it’s time for the club to let him go.
“He’s served the club very well. He did what he had to do and if he decides to go, so long and thank you.”

Who is in the running for Rudiger?
If Rudiger does wave farewell to the European champions, no shortage of suitors will be standing at his front door.
At least four Premier League teams are said to be waiting in the wings, whilst another six foreign suitors could apparently pounce when he becomes a free agent.
It is unlikely the former Roman man will join one of Chelsea’s direct rivals, although money might do the talking on this one.
Bayern Munich is arguably the most favourable destination, as it would take him back home.
Whichever destination he decides upon next, the Blues will have to respect Rudiger’s decision.
Selfishly, we hope he commits to another campaign with Tuchel’s men.
