In a season where Chelsea’s results have sometimes masked the performances, the right-side of the attack has been a constant worry for Maurizio Sarri.
Although Pedro had a good start to the campaign, his injury looks to have halted that good form.
Willian hasn’t looked settled ever since rumours linking him with Barcelona and Manchester United surfaced.
Therefore, if Sarri wants to continue his unlikely title push, he should be looking to sign a player in January to fill that hole.
And Leon Bailey is the player he should be targeting.
The Blues actually missed out on signing the Jamaican when he moved from Genk to Bayer Leverkusen in 2017.
Last season, Bailey was Leverkusen’s main attacking threat, finishing the season with 12 goals in 34 games in all competitions.
However, this season Bayer Leverkusen have had a poor start to the season, as they sit 13th in the table.
And this slow start has caused Bailey to suffer – he’s only scored one goal so far this season.
But his electric pace is something that Chelsea are missing from their attack which means they often lack a cutting edge.
The Blues have been linked with Bailey already, and he could prove the missing piece in Chelsea’s title push.
Although it may cost a lot to sign Bailey, Sarri should snap him up amid interest from other European giants.
