Chelsea defender Levi Colwill is not expecting an easy 2025/26 campaign despite his team’s recent success.
The Blues have become a really good outfit under Enzo Maresca, winning both the Club World Cup and Conference League last season.
They have really strengthened their squad as well, with Ajax’s Jorrel Hato now set to arrive at Stamford Bridge. The Chelsea Chronicle understands that Chelsea have wrapped up the signing of Hato to hand Maresca another option in defence.
Colwill, though, has a warning for the Dutchman and the rest of the Chelsea team ahead of the new Premier League season.

Levi Colwill thinks everyone will want to beat Chelsea after Club World Cup triumph
Having won the Club World Cup in America earlier this month, Chelsea are now world champions.
For Colwill, that tag has put a target on their back going into the 2025/26 campaign.
In an interview with The Athletic, the central defender said: “Do I think teams will target a win over Chelsea even more so that they can say they have beaten the world champions? Definitely, but that is not a bad thing.
“They will give us respect. But we have to always be on it; our mindset has to be that we have to win every game.”
One reason why Chelsea were able to win the Club World Cup was because of the addition of Joao Pedro.
The Brazilian joined Maresca’s side mid-way through the tournament and was able to make a big impact, scoring three goals, including one in the final against Paris Saint-Germain.
Colwill spoke about Pedro before that game, stating that he did not realise how good his teammate was until he trained with him.

Levi Colwill on playing in the Champions League
Chelsea’s league season was also a positive one, with the club managing to finish fourth in the table.
As a result, they were able to qualify for the Champions League, a competition that Colwill is really looking forward to playing in.
“When that anthem comes on, it is going to be a dream,” the 22-year-old told The Athletic. “I could get a bit emotional, to be honest.”
The Blues have not been in Europe’s elite competition since 2023. They got to the quarter-finals that year, losing to Real Madrid.
Being world champions, Chelsea have to aim to do better than that. If Maresca’s men play like how they did against PSG, the semi-finals may not be out of reach this time around.
