Levi Colwill raves about ‘aggressive’ Chelsea teammate who’s very popular in the squad

Levi Colwill has just delivered a glowing verdict on one Chelsea teammate, claiming he’s a superb player and very popular within the dressing room at Stamford Bridge.

Blues head coach Enzo Maresca is working with a very young Chelsea squad this season, which includes a new-look defensive partnership.

Levi Colwill, 21, has started every Premier League match so far at centre-back. His partner next him in all of those matches has been 23-year-old Wesley Fofana, too.

It was claimed by GiveMeSport earlier in the summer that Chelsea were planning to unleash the new combination of Colwill and Fofana, which so far is showing plenty of signs of big potential.

Levi Colwill hails Wesley Fofana

Colwill has praised Chelsea’s Fofana for his quality on the pitch, especially his aggressive approach to defending. Also, he’s shared that he’s a popular member of the squad off the pitch as well.

“He’s (Fofana) a really good player, I really enjoy playing with him. He’s so aggressive and I think we complement each other really well,” Colwill said, as quoted by Chelsea’s official website.

“Behind the scenes he’s such a great lad, I get on really well with him and I think everyone in the team gets on really well with him.”

Can Chelsea mirror Arsenal?

If you look at one of the main reasons why Arsenal have been so impressive in recent times, it’s definitely been the partnership between William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes in the heart of the Gunners defence.

French star Saliba, 23, is a colossus centre-back who dominates pretty much any striker in the Premier League. Similarly, 26-year-old Gabriel is the left-footed centre-half with a perfect balance next to him.

We can definitely see some similarities between the Fofana-Colwill combination and the Arsenal duo, although Chelsea’s pair are the raw version at the very start of their journey.

The Blues know from experience that they’ll need a formidable partnership at centre-back to be successful going forward. Hopefully, Chelsea have found their next John Terry and Ricardo Carvalho.
