Liam Delap missed Chelsea’s midweek Carabao Cup clash with Arsenal due to illness, and now there’s been an update on the striker.
Marc Guiu was given the nod by Liam Rosenior to lead the line for Chelsea against Arsenal, but it didn’t go to plan as he was substituted early on in the second half.
Joao Pedro moved into a more central position, and it did serve Chelsea better, with Alejandro Garnacho making the big difference in the final third for the Blues.
Garnacho became the first Chelsea substitute in the club’s history to score two goals in a major cup semi-final, so he’ll be pushing for a start.
The real question is who leads the line this time round, with Liam Delap, Joao Pedro and Guiu all tussling.
What changes would you make to Chelsea’s starting XI vs Brentford?👀
Liam Delap expected to miss Chelsea’s clash with Brentford
Cole Palmer and Reece James have been the main talking points heading into the weekend clash with Brentford, as both have returned to training.
It seems as if both will be in the squad and have a good chance of starting.
However, one man who is ‘expected’ to miss the clash with Brentford is Liam Delap.
A report from the BBC states that the striker has been suffering from an illness and doesn’t look like he will recover in time.

Is it time that Chelsea signed a striker?
Liam Delap hasn’t exactly hit the heights that many thought he would since joining Chelsea.
A mixture of injury, inconsistencies, and rash decision-making has seen him come in and out of the side, with his red card against Wolves a real low point.
However, Delap has already shared his excitement to play under Liam Rosenior, so we could see a completely transformed player once he returns from illness.
