Liverpool's Henderson praises 'fantastic' Chelsea squad ahead of League Cup final

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson was full of praise for the “fantastic” Chelsea team ahead of what he expects to be a “tough” League Cup final on Sunday.

As Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel himself admitted in his pre-match press conference, Liverpool are slight “favourites” due to their form.

Jurgen Klopp’s men won nine out of their last 10 games which illustrates their incredible consistency this season.

The Blues are on a six-game winning run themselves, but they were arguably not as convincing as they should be in some of these games.

However, Chelsea have played in several cup finals in the last year, which should help their preparation for the game.

According to Henderson, the London club’s having strong players in pretty much every position on the pitch could also pose problems to Liverpool.

“They are a fantastic team, there’s no getting away from that, with fantastic players,” the England international said about Chelsea ahead of the game (via Liverpool’s official website).

“They have got [fantastic] players all over the park. They are very strong in midfield, but [also] very strong all over, and they’ve got a very good squad of players.

“You’ve seen what they’ve won recently and over the last year so, they have been successful.”

The two teams have played twice in the Premier League this season and both games ended in a draw.

So Henderson understandably expects a difficult game against the Blues once again.

“It’s never going to be easy against Chelsea, they are a world-class team – as they have proved the last year or two,” he added.

“I think the manager has come in and done a fantastic job, so it will be a tough test. But at the same time, I feel as though we’ve got fantastic players here, and we are a good team ourselves.

“If we perform to the level we are capable of then we can give them a good game.”
