Mason Mount and several other members of the Chelsea family flocked onto social media to congratulate Reece James for reaching a massive milestone.
Buried within the breathless 3-2 defeat to West Ham United last weekend was James’ 100th appearance for the Blues.
Chelsea’s centennial
It probably wasn’t the celebration the defender had in mind for his century, but it’s an accomplishment that deserves praising nonetheless.

Especially as the England international only made his senior Chelsea debut in September 2019.
Plenty has changed for the full-back since that Carabao Cup win against Grimsby Town.
James is a Champions League winner, a European Championship finalist, a regular for club and country and now part of the 100 community.
Not bad for a player who only turns 22 tomorrow.
Reaction to Reece
After allowing the dust to settle following the hammer blow on Saturday, James gave himself a little pat on the back for his landmark match.
An Instagram post is typically how footballers mark their significant moments and Chelsea’s right-back was no different on this occasion.
He received plenty of kind responses from those associated with Stamford Bridge and beyond.
Little sister Lauren left her message in emoji form, as did England buddy Jude Bellingham.
Cesar Azpilicueta kept up captain duties by commending his fellow defensive partner.

Mount – who is not far off 150 outings for the Blues – acknowledged his lifelong colleague’s success.

Here’s to another 100 and hopefully many more, Reece!
