Chelsea legend Eden Hazard has been really impressed with what he has seen from one player at his former club this season.

Chelsea signed Cole Palmer from Manchester City last summer and the attacker has been excellent.

Eden Hazard, speaking on The Obi One Podcast, has now hailed Palmer as a “top player”.

In the 21 Premier League appearances he has made for Chelsea this season, the 21-year-old has scored 10 goals and provided six assists. No player in Mauricio Pochettino‘s squad has managed to net more times than him.

Palmer has been so good that Tottenham Hotspur legend Jermain Defoe has claimed that he would rather watch the Englishman than Lionel Messi right now.

Eden Hazard hails Cole Palmer as “top player”

Hazard is a fan of Palmer and thinks there is something special about some left-footers like the former City man.

On Palmer, the retired winger said: “Cole Palmer is a top, top player. And you know, the left footed, sometimes they have something magical.”

High praise for Cole Palmer

Being described as a top player by Hazard, one of the greatest wide men to play in the Premier League, is the highest praise Palmer can receive.

It is warranted as well. As already mentioned, the England international has been terrific for Chelsea this term.

If Palmer wants to emulate Hazard’s Chelsea legacy, though, he will have to help the Blues to win trophies. And the former City man can get the ball rolling this Sunday.

Chelsea, of course, take on Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley, a Liverpool side who will not even be at full strength.

Diogo Jota has now joined their long injury list and looks set to miss the game. Chelsea and Palmer have a great opportunity to win the club’s first trophy under its new ownership. And with Pochettino’s men 10th in the Premier League, there may not be much to play for after it.
