Chelsea and Manchester United have conducted plenty of transfer business over the years, including Mason Mount’s move to Old Trafford last summer.

Now, there’s been some recent speculation regarding the future of Blues vice captain Ben Chilwell.

The Byline recently claimed that Man United are showing an interest in signing Chilwell this summer.

On top of that, The Daily Mail reports that Man United are considering Chelsea’s Chilwell as competition for Luke Shaw.

Manchester United fans react to Ben Chilwell interest

Many Man United supporters on social media are reacting in the same way to reports that suggest Chelsea’s Chilwell is on their radar.

They’re mainly concerned about the left-back’s injury record, so doubt whether he’s a good signing to compete with Luke Shaw at Old Trafford.

One fan said: “Chilwell is as injury prone as Shaw, rather bring back Regulion on a permanent deal.”

Another wrote: “Why is Ben Chilwell an option? Injury prone the same as Shaw and we are going to have two defenders who will be injured most of the time. Red flag signing, rather go with a young left back who we have in the academy.”

One fan posted: “Chillwell? No way. He has the fitness of Shaw & performs like Malacia. Should stay clear.”

There’s no doubt that Chelsea full-back Chilwell has been quite unfortunate with injuries.

Here below is the defender’s record during his four seasons so far at Stamford Bridge since he joined from Leicester City.

He’s had a mixture of different injuries in the last few years, so it’s hard to put your trust in him going into next season.

However, The Chelsea Chronicle hopes Chilwell stays and fights it out with Marc Cucurella for a spot in Chelsea’s XI at left-back.
