There are two players in the current Chelsea squad that many at the club think can be absolutely vital moving forward.

That is according to a report from The Athletic.

They claim that many people at Chelsea think the rebuild under Mauricio Pochettino could largely depend on he success of Mykhailo Mudryk and Christopher Nkunku.

We’ve witnessed quite a big drop off during a turbulent 18 months at Stamford Bridge, but Pochettino is the new coach in the manager’s dugout tasked with getting the club back to its glory days.

So, Mudryk and Nkunku have been highlighted as key figures within this Chelsea group.

First of all, Mudryk joined the club back in the January transfer window of this year. Afterwards, Nkunku signed for the Blues in his summer transfer window.

Can the 2023 recruits really be the difference in the years ahead, though?

Mudryk, 22, struggled to hit the ground running during the second half of last season after arriving into West London.

However, the Ukrainian winger has bundles of pace and potential, so we’ve got high hopes for him moving forward.

Interestingly, Pochettino has already described Mudryk as someone with “massive potential” after a few weeks coaching him (official website).

Nkunku may have only just joined up with his Chelsea teammates this month, but he’s a central attacker many supporters are very excited to watch in the flesh.

The 25-year-old Frenchman scored 70 goals in 170 RB Leipzig appearances in Germany, so hopefully he can bring some of that firepower to a pretty toothless frontline at Stamford Bridge.

We would definitely throw into the hat Reece James and Enzo Fernandez as the two current members of the Chelsea squad that will have a big say on this team’s success.
