Chelsea’s Noni Madueke was rewarded for his really encouraging start to the new season by making his debut for England’s senior team on Tuesday night.
Noni Madueke, 22, has started the 2024/25 campaign on fire for Chelsea, scoring four goals in four games. As a result, the youngster earned a first ever senior call-up to the Three Lions squad during the September international break.
Madueke made his England debut by replacing Bukayo Saka on the right wing during the second half of the 2-0 victory at home to Finland in the Nations League.
The Blues right-winger made the most of his cameo appearance with a very busy 25 minutes, which included assisting Harry Kane’s second goal.
Speaking via talkSPORT after the Finland victory, England’s interim boss Lee Carsley hailed Madueke’s debut.

Chelsea fans react to Noni Madueke’s England debut
Many Chelsea supporters on social media were all saying the same thing after Madueke’s senior international debut this week. Interestingly, they believe that it’s clear Blues head coach Enzo Maresca is already making a very positive impact on the 22-year-old’s game in such a short space of time.
Here are some Chelsea fans on X discussing the new-look Madueke that is developing under Maresca…
One fan said: “Maresca has impacted Madueke game so much. Watch here before the assist. One touch. Made the run and another touch for the assist. Just like Maresca said. Two touches three is too much!”
Another wrote: “Noni Madueke will be a top top player really soon. His only problem has always been his decision making when he’s with the ball. Enzo Maresca is about to create a menace.”
One user posted: “Noni’s game has gone leaps and bounds under the short time Maresca has been here. His decision making, composure in the final third, knowingness of when to go and when to recycle the ball has improved massively since last season. Always believed in Noni, knew he had all the tools to be a brilliant touchline winger, just needs to keep listening to Maresca and he’ll be up there amongst the best very soon.”
Another supporter claimed: “Maresca has actually done really well with Noni. Making him comfortable. Teaching him decison making and calming him down. Of course his personal training is shining as well.”
Enzo Maresca will help Blues wingers
If you look at Leicester City last season under Maresca’s management, their wide players were at the heart of their success in the Championship. In particular, Foxes wingers Stephy Mavididi and Abdul Fatawu were outstanding.
Therefore, it’s no big surprise that Chelsea winger Madueke has started the new season in this kind of form.
The signing of Jadon Sancho on loan from Manchester United raised a few eyebrows when the Blues completed it on deadline day, but don’t be surprised if he thrives in Maresca’s system on the left wing.
On top of that, summer signing Pedro Neto is another we expect to have a big season at Stamford Bridge. Plus, Mykhailo Mudryk should be desperate to prove his worth for Chelsea.
