Marc Cucurella gives honest thoughts on Estevao Willian after pair clash in Chelsea’s Club World Cup win

The Chelsea squad were not prepared to give future teammate Estevao Willian an easy ride when they lined up against him in the Club World Cup quarter-final.

The Brazilian youngster showed his class with his sensational goal against the Blues, with his right-footed shot flying past Robert Sanchez for a near-impossible angle.

Enzo Fernandez said he can see Estevao’s potential from playing against him, however he didn’t seem too popular on the pitch with one of his future teammates.

Marc Cucurella praises Estevao Willian after Club World Cup arguments

Ahead of his move to Stamford Bridge at the conclusion of the Club World Cup, Chelsea fans will be hoping to see any bad blood put to bed by the time they take to the field as teammates.

However, Cucurella was full of praise for Estevao at the end of the game, telling the Evening Standard that he is excited by the prospect of helping him improve as a Chelsea player.

He said: “I think he’s a good player with a lot of talent. We want to help him. We try to help him in all the things that we can.”

Coming up against Cucurella is one of the toughest tasks for a winger, however Estevao can take pride in his performance. He was comfortably Palmeiras’ best player on the day.

Estevao already risking relationship with Chelsea fans

Chelsea supporters have spent more than a year waiting for the arrival of the winger at the club, with the deal being agreed a long time in advance.

However, Blues fans are already not happy with Estevao after a recent admission he made in regards to his future at the top of the game.

Estevao said he can see himself playing in Spain in the future, a league that has so often been the end destination for players at the pinnacle of their game.

While this worry will of course spread through the fanbase, they can take solace in the fact that he has put pen to paper on a long-term deal at the club, and is set to make an impact there from next season.
