Chelsea’s start to the season has come under some criticism, and this has been reflected in the fact that just one of their players has made the WhoScored Team of the Season so far.

The Blues were actually in a bad way domestically when they went into the game against Liverpool, having lost their last two Premier League games after going down to 10 men.

Despite all the injuries Enzo Maresca’s side had to deal with, the Blues ran out 2-1 winners at Stamford Bridge thanks to Estevao Willian’s last minute winner.

Everyone on the pitch stepped up with impressive performances, with praise for Enzo Fernandez for the part he played after facing some criticism to start the campaign.

His midfield partner again stole the headlines though, as Moises Caicedo’s wonderful strike to open the scoring made it three goals for the season already for him.

Frank Lampard compared Caicedo to N’golo Kante after the game, and it seems as if his performances have reflected well when it comes to the stats too.

WhoScored’s Team of the Season so far, which is based on average ratings per game, sees Caicedo as the sole Chelsea representative in midfield.

Pundits have begun to debate whether the Ecuador international is the best player in the league in his position, despite the quality of the likes of Declan Rice around him.

Gary Neville labelled Caicedo as the best right now, and with a goalscoring touch being discovered in recent weeks by Maresca he is looking even more complete.

Despite also having a very impressive individual season, Marc Cucurella was nowhere to be seen in the Team of the Season so far.

Cucurella has earned praise from his Champions League performances, despite him being dealt the tough task of dealing with Michael Olise in their eventual defeat to Bayern Munich.

Attacking output is something that has certainly improved in the Spaniard since the new manager took over, with him being the man in the most advanced position to tee up Estevao for the winner against Liverpool.
