‘Massive worry’… ESPN pundit thinks 22-year-old Chelsea player doesn’t actually know how to play with one teammate

Moises Caicedo set up Chelsea’s opener in their 4-2 loss against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Stamford Bridge over the weekend.

However, ESPN pundit Luis Miguel Echegaray still has doubts about Moises Caicedo‘s role at Chelsea.

Speaking on ESPN after the game, he questioned whether the 22-year-old midfielder actually knows what he needs to do alongside Enzo Fernandez in the middle of the park.

Despite his assist, Caicedo was taken off in the Blues’ latest defeat and reacted furiously after his substitution.

The whole of Stamford Bridge, bar the away supporters, would have been fuming after that showing, though.

Luis Miguel Echegaray suggests Moises Caicedo is unsure about role

Luis Miguel Echegaray thinks Caicedo does not really know what he should be doing in the middle of the park right now.

On the Ecuadorian, he said: “I don’t think, at this point, Caicedo knows exactly what he needs to do next to Enzo Fernandez.

“And that’s a worry, especially when you have somebody like Mauricio Pochettino, a very experienced, Spanish-speaking manager who should be able to help him. It’s a massive worry for Chelsea right now.”

Is Mauricio Pochettino getting the best out of Moises Caicedo?

The answer is no. Chelsea paid £115m (Sky Sports) to sign Caicedo from Brighton & Hove Albion last summer.

It is a lot of money, yet what have the Blues actually brought Caicedo in to do? What is his midfield role? What does Pochettino want from him?

At this point in time, it is hard to answer any of those questions. It is really difficult to tell what his actual job in this side is and that falls on the manager, who needs to find him a more defined role.

Right now, Caicedo just looks like a very expensive midfielder running around and giving away free kicks.
