Matt Law says Enzo Maresca sacking moved ‘very, very quickly’ over two weeks
It is believed that Maresca’s comments regarding the ‘worst 48 hours’ he had endured at the club were the beginning of the end for the Italian, who had been having internal disputes throughout his tenure.
Journalist Matt Law has told the ‘London is Blue’ podcast that the decision to part ways accelerated very quickly after that moment, which pushed the club to make a decision before the end of the season.
He said: “It was described to me as a two-week unraveling. So I think basically Everton is just slightly over two weeks, but I’m guessing that the two weeks took in the Everton post-match comments. I’m told by very good sources, a two-week unraveling and that things have just moved very, very quickly in that two weeks.
“I think there were issues in the background and there were doubts, but I always think that before the last two weeks or so, those doubts were thought of with a view to the end of season review, which had always been the plan. The club had been very, very hard on that.”

Pep Guardiola hints at major Chelsea error regarding Enzo Maresca
The gulf in experience between McFarlane and City boss Pep Guardiola will be amongst the biggest in footballing history when the two meet.
Quite the difference in managerial records for Chelsea vs City…
The Spaniard will have been expecting to be coming up against an old colleague in the former Chelsea boss, and has already given his verdict on the shock sacking.
Guardiola believes Chelsea have let go an ‘incredible’ manager in Maresca, and the job that Rosenior looks like he is taking over is seriously difficult.
Chelsea fans are quickly losing faith in the project as things stand, and will need the current Strasbourg manager to dig them out of the latest hole.
