Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino has shared some “very good news” in today’s press conference regarding the fitness of Christopher Nkunku.
Chelsea host Sheffield United tomorrow afternoon for a Premier League fixture.
Blues fans may not be able to hold their excitement because there’s a chance that Christopher Nkunku, 26, may get to make his competitive debut for the club.

Mauricio Pochettino gives Chelsea boost
Pochettino has confirmed that Nkunku will be in Chelsea’s matchday squad on Saturday against Sheffield United.
The French attacker has watched from sidelines for the first half of the season with an injury, but he’s worked his way back to fitness just in time for the festive schedule.
Our guess is he’ll get a late cameo from the bench.
When asked if Nkunku can be involved in the Chelsea squad versus Sheffield United, Pochettino said Football.London: “Yes, can be involved. That is very good news. To be involved tomorrow and be in the squad and to feel the competition after the pre-season is good news for us. We need to be calm and quiet so not to put all the pressure on him. Now he’s going to evolve, know the Premier League. It’s a big motivation for us, for the teammates, and the fans to see a player that should be important for us and to be in the squad for the first time.”
Christopher Nkunku in squad against Sheffield United
There’s still plenty of bad news around the club with fresh injuries to the likes of Reece James, but finally there’s a positive update in attack.
Nkunku, who looked electric in pre-season, is finally going to be involved with the group for the very first time this campaign.
The former RB Leipzig attacker was a major hit in Germany, so can he now replicate that success in England?
Speaking via BBC Sport this week, Pat Nevin has warned everyone to temper their expectation when it comes to Nkunku’s potential impact in the Chelsea line-up. We do suspect it may take some time adapting to a new league and his new teammates.
The introduction of Nkunku should serve as a warning to other Chelsea forwards that they need to be on top of their game to stay in the XI.
