Journalist Sacha Tavolieri has claimed that Chelsea have held a meeting this week with the agents of Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia.

The 19-year-old has been a rare bright spot for the Saints this season, with the club sitting bottom of the Premier League.

This is despite their league double over Chelsea this season, picking up a win against both Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter.

Lavia was one of the bright spots of both victories, scoring against the Blues in the first of their two matches this season.

His good form has seen him rewarded with a call-up to the Belgium national team, who are entering a new era after sacking Roberto Martinez following a dire World Cup campaign.

However, this is only part of what has been a busy week for the Lavia camp. Tavolieri has claimed that his entourage have been in discussions with Chelsea this week over a potential move.

Lavia met with Chelsea

He said: “Selected for the 1st time by Domenico Tedesco , Roméo Lavia is the subject of intense pressing by Chelsea . As we reported to you in December, Chelsea wants to accelerate and this week met the entourage in Belgium.”

It has been widely claimed that a midfielder is high on the club’s priority list going into the upcoming summer transfer window.

Today, it has been claimed that the Blues are also looking elsewhere in the Premier League to try and find their ideal target.

They are reportedly keen on signing Declan Rice still from West Ham, even if they will not be pairing him with best mate Mason Mount at Stamford Bridge.

The England international is still reportedly no closer to signing a new contract to commit his future to the West London club.
