Micah Richards has suggested that he is starting to get annoyed about hearing excuses about Chelsea’s current plight now.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Richards says that Chelsea have the quality to be performing far better than they current are.
While circumstances are far from ideal – with an interim manager on board, and key positions in their squad still looking weak – Richards feels that Chelsea’s players should be stepping up at this stage.
With a game against Arsenal next up there is now trepidation at Stamford Bridge that another heavy defeat could be inflicted tomorrow.
But Richards has urged Chelsea’s players to stop looking for cheap ways out, and step up to the plate.
He said: “Chelsea’s situation is really starting to frustrate me. I have heard so many complaints about the manager, about the owner, about not having a striker. Enough!
“Sometimes, as a player, it becomes about personal pride and putting things right yourself. They have got an outstanding chance to answer their critics at Arsenal tomorrow.
“If I was in that group now, I would be desperate for the next game to put things right. I hope they are all feeling the same.”
Chelsea’s time for excuses is over

While there are some extenuating circumstances for Chelsea’s squad this season, Richards is correct – four wins since October should never be accepted here.
There is only so much blame which can be pointed at the likes of Graham Potter and Lampard for this current run of form.
It is time for these Chelsea players to start living up to their price-tag and earn their expensive wages.
Far too many of the squad appear to be cruising through the season and the constant insipid performances are becoming indefensible now.
While it is clear that quality needs to be added up-front and the players could obviously benefit from an innovative attacking structure, there has been too many occasions were the efforts have appeared half-hearted.
If Chelsea continue to play to their current levels against Arsenal then it is hard to see any other result than any defeat.
But there has to be hope that a London derby can reignite the passion in the Chelsea squad, and we finally are able to see the quality that this expensively assembled squad possesses.
