A handful of Chelsea supporters on social media were saddened to discover that Tino Anjorin will take no part in the UEFA Super Cup final.

The Blues face Villarreal tomorrow evening, with the 24-man squad having already landed in Belfast ahead of the main event.

One player who did not board the plane was Anjorin, who featured against Tottenham Hotspur in the previous pre-season friendly.

He trained regularly with Thomas Tuchel’s team last year, but almost played no part in the senior campaign.

After the Super Cup group was announced, Chelsea fans felt sorrow for their academy star.

Here’s how they reacted on Twitter:

Who else won’t be playing?

Anjorin was not the only one to miss out on the trip to Northern Ireland.

Amongst some of the omitted names were Ross Barkley, Davide Zappacosta, Ethan Ampadu, Malang Sarr and Tiemoue Bakayoko.

Michy Batshuayi and Kenedy can also be added to that list.

All had been part of Tuchel’s camp over the past month or so, as they attempt to break back into the team following their respective loan moves.

Many of the Chelsea faithful believed this was a sign they would not be part of the side this term.

There is still time before the transfer window opens for those being overlooked to find greener pastures elsewhere.
