Moises Caicedo beats imminent Tottenham signing and Man City star in top five list

Chelsea’s Moises Caicedo is one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League and proved that at times last season.

His form was up and down and really dipped in the second half of the campaign. Nevertheless, the Chelsea midfielder still managed to post some very impressive numbers.

In fact, when it came to one area, no player in the English top flight managed to outdo Caicedo.

Where has this Moises Caicedo gone? 😫

Absolutely bossed Liverpool at the Bridge!

Chelsea star Moises Caicedo made more interceptions than Marcos Senesi and Marc Guehi last season

According to the Premier League’s official website, Caicedo made 59 interceptions during the 2025/26 campaign. That is more than Tottenham Hotspur’s imminent signing Marcos Senesi and Manchester City’s Marc Guehi managed to register.

Senesi made 56, while Guehi recorded 50. Former Chelsea player Ethan Ampadu also made 50 interceptions.

Together with James Garner, who matched Caicedo’s total of 59, they all make up the top five players for interceptions made in the Premier League last season.

Despite Caicedo’s efforts and impressive early-season form, Chelsea went on to have a disastrous campaign.

They finished 10th in the table and missed out on European football as a result. It means their finances are about to take a big hit, but Chelsea will not sell Caicedo this summer.

Moises Caicedo doesn’t make top five for tackles

While Caicedo topped the charts for interceptions alongside Garner, surprisingly, he did not even make the top five for tackles.

Garner claimed top spot for himself in that department, while Joao Gomes, Mateus Fernandes, Joao Palhinha, Tyrique Mitchell and Elliot Anderson completed the top five — Mitchell and Anderson were level on 63 tackles.

It perhaps shows how much Caicedo’s form tailed off in the second half of the season, given that the Ecuador international is one of the best tacklers in the Premier League and usually has the numbers to back that up.

Under Xabi Alonso, hopefully he can return to his best again and enter that list at the end of the 2026/27 campaign.
