Moises Caicedo’s record vs Manchester United gives Chelsea hope of finally winning at Old Trafford

Moises Caicedo could be the key to Chelsea ending their winless run at Old Trafford this weekend.

Chelsea have not beaten United away from home in the Premier League since 2013 — an awful record.

Having a player who is as good as Caicedo available to them, they have a chance of ending that barren run on Saturday. When Gianfranco Zola spoke about Caicedo after the Blues’ last league game, he said: “Caicedo has grown up a lot.”

Overall, the midfielder has quite a good record against the Red Devils and will be hoping that he can get another win under his belt.

Moises Caicedo has beaten Manchester United five times since arriving in England

Caicedo has fared much better against United compared to some other Chelsea players in recent years.

Again, it has been 12 years since the Blues last beat their Premier League rivals at their ground. Of course, not all of the Ecuadorian’s victories have come at Old Trafford, but the fact that he has helped both Chelsea and Brighton & Hove Albion to beat United bodes well for Enzo Maresca.

Caicedo has also scored more goals against United than he has against any other team, netting two times in eight appearances.

Chelsea’s London rivals West Ham United are actually the only team Caicedo has beaten on more occasions than United.

WhoScored recently named their Team of the Week for gameweek four in the Premier League and Caicedo was included.

Based on the above, it would not be a surprise if he put in another good performance against United and got selected again for gameweek five.

Manchester United vs Chelsea prediction

Chelsea will be looking to bounce back from their defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League when they travel to Old Trafford.

With the form that Ruben Amorim’s men are in, it would not surprise anyone if they did. A 2-1 win seems very reasonable.

In the same fixture last season, Caicedo scored a terrific goal to rescue a point for the Blues. Hopefully, he has his shooting boots on once again.
