Chelsea have already pulled off an unexpected arrival this summer in the form of Xabi Alonso, and are still in the hunt to do the same with Morgan Rogers.
Many expected Alonso to turn down Chelsea following their woeful 2025/26 season, however they got in early to hire him before Liverpool decided to pull the trigger on Arne Slot’s sacking.
The Chelsea squad are excited about the prospect of working with the Spaniard, and there will be no European distraction going into the new season.

Morgan Rogers refuses to rule out move to Chelsea
During the Blues’ efforts to bring in a new manager, it was consistently reported that Alonso had not walked away from negotiations with club chiefs, despite how Liam Rosenior and co were treated before him.
The same is reportedly happening with Morgan Rogers, who Chelsea have been working towards signing throughout the recently-finished campaign.
Simon Phillips has stated that Rogers has so far not turned down a move to Chelsea, although is the subject of serious interest from Arsenal.

He said on his Substack: “SPTC Sources understand that at the time of writing this, Aston Villa attacker Morgan Rogers has NOT yet rejected a move to Chelsea. The Blues have made their interest known to his reps, and Rogers has left the door open to a move to Stamford Bridge this summer. Chelsea have been laying down ground work for this attempted move all season.
“However, the issue with this one is that he’s also leaving the door open to other top clubs who want him such as Arsenal, and many others. So although there is hope, Chelsea might find it hard to compete with what Arsenal have to offer, especially with our restricted wage structure.
“But as of now, Rogers has not point blankly ruled Chelsea out and he is keeping his options open and is in no rush to make his choice. The belief is that he would choose Arsenal over Chelsea, and he probably would. But the point is that right now, he’s not closed the door on Chelsea.”

Rogers is the perfect signing for Chelsea
He won’t come cheap, but Rogers is the perfect signing Chelsea can make to show their support to Alonso this summer.
The Blues struggled greatly for a flourishing left winger last season, with both Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Gittens flattering to deceive in their first campaigns at the club.
Rogers has played in the number 10 role before, but moving him to the left could allow him to feature in the same side as Cole Palmer.
The duo are great friends and even share a celebration, and his signing could be the catalyst that brings Palmer back to his best.
