Morgan Rogers has lifted the lid on his initial discussions with Xabi Alonso, shedding light on what life will look like him for him at Chelsea.
Morgan Rogers really made a name for himself at Villa and in the England setup by drifting between that central attacking role, playing just off the main striker, or driving inside from the wing.
Coming into Chelsea, he’s entering a stacked group of attackers with guys like Cole Palmer and Pedro Neto already in the mix. But in Xabi Alonso’s system, which loves using two fluid, inverted playmakers behind a striker, Rogers fits like a glove.

Morgan Rogers set for a free role at Chelsea
Speaking in his first interview after being announced as a Chelsea player, Rogers shared just how much of an influence Xabi Alonso had on him joining.
But most importantly, he’s going to allow Rogers to play the way he wants.
“I’ve had a few conversations with him and I think it’s important for me to be here that I need to understand what the manager’s like, how he is and how he wants to operate.
“It very much fits with the way I see the game, the way I want to play, and the way I want to be me, and be free and express myself. Him being a part of that was a massive factor in me being here.”
The left side of the attack is most likely for Morgan Rogers
There have already been rumours that Morgan Rogers is likely to play off the left for Chelsea, especially with Alejandro Garnacho set to join Aston Villa.
He also gives you the versatility to play in the number 10 role and even on the right, like we saw with England in the semi-final of the World Cup.
