Mason Mount insisted that he is looking forward to potential midfield battles with Chelsea teammate Jorginho ahead of Sunday’s Euro 2020 final between England and Italy.
It is safe to say that, particularly for the Chelsea fans, it will be an exciting clash between two midfielders who have showcased their all-round prowess so far.
Mount has won more tackles (11) than any other England player and ranks joint second in terms of chances creation (five) among the Three Lions squad in the tournament.
While Jorginho has recorded third-most ball recoveries (40) in the competition and is obviously a key player who sets up the tempo for the Italian side.
Mount said he “gets on very well” with his Blues teammate Jorginho, but for now, he clarified, they are two enemies.
“I’ve been with him for two seasons, and he’s a very nice guy and someone I spend a lot of time with,” Mount said about Jorginho ahead of the final (via The Sun).
“But I’m going to be playing against him, and we’re not teammates any more.
“I appreciate him a lot. He’s very good on the ball and gets the team ticking.
“I know a lot more about him than some of the other boys who are in the group, so I can give a few tips about what he’s strong at.”
