The international break is always an opportunity for lots of the Chelsea first team squad to represent their nations all around the world.

Given the quality Enzo Maresca’s side possesses, it is no surprise that a large portion of his squad are selected to play for their countries despite the domestic season being just three games old.

Argentine media suggested Enzo Fernandez struggled late last week, with the story of the break so far being about a player who hasn’t even made his Chelsea debut yet.

Estevao Willian made his first appearance for Brazil, with many left even more excited about what he can bring to the national team in years to come.

In Europe, Portugal have a healthy contingent of Chelsea players, including one of their newest signings in Joao Felix.

Joao Felix changes the game for Portugal

While he was not handed the start in their 2-1 comeback win against Scotland last night, he made quite the impact off the bench.

Abola were very impressed with what the Blue brought to the table, handing him a 7/10 rating.

They said: “Good entrance. In the 78th minute, isolated by Cristiano Ronaldo’s heel, he shot and the only reason he didn’t score was because Gunn made a fantastic save. In the 82nd minute, the post headed the shot back. He changed the game.”

Pedro Neto was handed consecutive starts for his nation, something that will be a positive for Maresca as he looks to slowly build his way to full match fitness.

Felix could replace Cole Palmer if injured

Felix has been waiting patiently for his opportunity to start a game for Chelsea, with the next opportunity coming against Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday.

The chance that Cole Palmer is not fit enough to start could see an opportunity open up for him to feature in the Number 10 role, a position he would see as his strongest.
